Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
lots of options personally I would go with two defensive midfielders to give the full backs the opportunity to get forward.

------------------------Fabianski--------------------
Fredericks--Balbuena--Ogbonna--Masuaku
---------------Obiang--------Sanchez-------------
----Yarmolenko-----Wilshere-----Anderson---
------------------------Arnautovic-------------------

Two changes, Cresswell for Masuaku & Yarmo for Antonio

Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
What ive seen Bournemouth will be looking at us for 3 points. My biggest fear is Pelligrini is trying to play like his Man City team but with inferior players.

Teams like Bournemouth, Brighton, Palace etc all have one thing in common, they have pace, power and energy and are well organised. We will get bullied all over the place.

We needed 2 big DMF, look at Tottenham they have 4, 2 on the pitch and 2 subs. Having them protecting the defence allows their flare players to get forward.

I can see this turning into a Zola type season, we try and play football but get bullied due to no MF pace or power.

I wouldnt be surprised if Manuel dropped noble and rice for bournemouth and played Obiang and Snods in more of an advanced role with Wilshere sitting deep. Antonio seems to have lost his way a bit, clearly his head has gone since the new contract

Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
I'd only change Antonio for Yarmalenko, mostly on account if Antonio's inability to retain possession.

Otherwise as you were.

The only other change I'd even consider is Sanchez for Rice, but that will be one of the hardest games he'll face and he was excellent all pre season so deserves another go.

I actually though Masuaku performed pretty well defensively on Sunday. Used his pace and body strength well up against Salah.

All I do know is that I never want to see noble, wilshere and rice in the same midfield ever again.

How we even got double figures points that year is a miracle. Cheer up chaps, we've had it a lot worse

Not many of you seem to rate our most expensive CB... was he really that shit in pre-season? Even worse than Ogbonna?

I would bench Antonio, shadow of the player he was in his first season.

2 up top for me:

Fab

Fred diop balb cress

Yarm wilshere rice anderson

Chico arnie

Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
I saw many on here saying that MP has used a 4-2-2-2 formation at previous clubs and suggested he may go the same way with us. I never thought he would do that against the better teams or when we play away but if he's going to do it, surely the likes of Bournemouth at home is when he's going to give it a go. So...

------------------------------Fab----------------------------
Fredericks---Balbuena----Oggy---Cresswell (if fit)
------------------Rice-------------Wilshere---------------
------------------Anderson-----Yarmolenko-----------
-------------------Arnie------------Chicarito-------------

Going on pre-season and the fact he picked him against Liverpool, I think MP will persevere with Rice as a holding midfielder, especially if he goes with this formation as Rice would probably drop into a back 3 when the full backs bomb forward.

Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
The one obvious change would be Yarmolenko in for Antonio.

Personally I would keep Noble in although I wouldn't completely object If Obiang came in for him.

As for Rice I would definitely start with him. How is a kid suppose to develop if we just leave him out after one bad game especially when that game was against one of the best teams in Europe?

Have you ever witnessed the person you love try to harm their self or take their own life?

Anderson in the hole would be great, he played there for Lazio at times, certainly has the brains and touch to play there as well as can beat a man.

You comment about me being a bit sensitive has been deleted for some reason and no doubt this post will be also.

As a matter of fact I am a bit sensitive on that subject as it happens.

Trevor have you ever been close to someone who has mental health issues?

I'd go:
(Assuming no injuries from yesterday)

Fabianski

Fredricks
Balbuena
Ogbonna
Masuaku

Rice
Noble
Wilshere

Yarmolenko
Arnautovic
Anderson

basically the same as yesterday but with Yarmolenko instead of Antonio. I'd be tempted to put Sanchez in for Rice as well if his confidence took any sort of battering yesterday. Also tempted with Cresswell for Masuaku, but i think they all deserve a chance against 'regular level' opposition aside from giving Yarmolenko the nod if fit enough.

Yep, you're a bit mental.

Thats not nice calling someone a bit mental because their opinion differs from yours.

I can name many top footballers who started their careers in one position only to change to another.

Paul Warhurst centre back/ centre forward
Billy Bonds right back/Midfield/centre back
Geoff Hurst right half/centre forward
Frank McAvennie Midfield/striker
Paul Madelly (spelling) played numbers 1 to 11 for Leeds

I suppose you assume Ron Greenwood, John Lyall and Don Revie to have been a bit mental
